What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and provide information to site owners. Cookies may be set by the website you are visiting ("first-party cookies") or by third parties ("third-party cookies").
Legal Framework
Cookie use is governed by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 ("PECR"), as amended by the Data Use and Access Act 2025 ("DUAA 2025"), and the UK General Data Protection Regulation ("UK GDPR") where cookies involve personal data processing.
Under the DUAA 2025, certain cookie categories are exempt from prior consent requirements.
Cookies We Use
Functional Cookies (Consent Exempt)
These cookies enable core functionality such as user authentication, session management, and security features. They are necessary for the Services to function properly.
Under DUAA 2025 and PECR, functional cookies that are strictly necessary for explicitly requested services are exempt from consent requirements.

Analytics Cookies (Consent Required)
Analytics cookies help understand how visitors interact with the Services. Information collected is used in aggregate to improve the Services and is not used to identify individual users.
Under the DUAA 2025, analytics cookies used solely for aggregate statistical information can be exempt from prior consent, subject to conditions including that clear information and a prominent opt-out are provided. We do not rely on that exemption. Analytics cookies load only after you accept them, they are never set by default, and you can withdraw at any time through Cookie settings in the footer.

IP addresses. We use Google Analytics 4, which does not log or store IP addresses. An IP address is used in transit to derive approximate location and is then discarded.
Retention. Event data is retained for 2 months and user-level data for 14 months, after which it is deleted.
Data Sharing. Google Analytics data is not shared with Google for advertising or other purposes. Google Signals is turned off and no Google Advertising features are enabled. Advertising consent signals (ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization) are denied at all times, including for visitors who accept every category.
Marketing Cookies (Consent Required)
When you accept marketing cookies, we use HubSpot to understand how visitors engage with our website and to connect enquiries you submit with your visit history, so our team can follow up in context. These are first-party cookies set on kumo.earth. They load only after you accept through our cookie banner, and are never set by default. If you later switch Marketing off, we delete them and instruct HubSpot to revoke its own consent.
The cookies below are the ones the HubSpot tracker sets when it is enabled and you have accepted. If you have never accepted marketing cookies, none of them are ever set.

The Booking Pages (Consent Exempt)
The four pages where you book a call with us (/meet-robin, /meet-henry, /meet-robin-and-henry and /meet-kumo) load HubSpot's scheduling tool as soon as you open one, without waiting for the cookie banner. We rely on the exemption for what is strictly necessary to provide a service you have explicitly requested: the scheduler is the entire reason that page exists, and gating it would mean anyone who declined cookies could not book a call at all. It is the only thing on this site that loads a third party before you have chosen.
The scheduling tool sets no cookies on kumo.earth. What it does is load HubSpot's own booking page inside the page you are reading, and that page can set cookies of its own on hubspot.com, under HubSpot's cookie policy rather than this one. Switching Marketing off here does not remove those, because they are not ours to remove; clear them in your browser if you want them gone.
When the scheduler loads, we pass HubSpot the address of the page you are on and a visitor identifier, so that a booking can be matched to an existing enquiry rather than arriving as a stranger. If you have never accepted marketing cookies there is no existing identifier, and a fresh one is generated for that booking. Anything in the page address after a ?, which is usually a campaign tag, is passed along with it, so avoid opening a booking link that carries information you would rather not send.
Advertising Cookies
We do not use advertising cookies. We do not serve advertisements on our Services and do not use cookies to track you across other websites for advertising.
How to Manage Your Cookie Choices
Cookie settings. A Cookie settings control sits in our site footer. It reopens your choices at any time, with a separate switch for Analytics and for Marketing, so you can allow one without the other. Withdrawing is no harder than giving: the control is always there, and once it is open a single click rejects everything non-essential.
What withdrawal does. When you switch a category off we do not simply stop collecting. We delete the cookies that category set from your device, and for Marketing we also instruct HubSpot to revoke its own tracking consent, which stops it identifying you across future visits. The one thing this cannot reach is a cookie set on hubspot.com by the scheduler on a booking page, because it is not ours to delete.
This affects your device and what happens from that point on. It does not by itself erase data already collected and held by us or by our processors. To ask for that, use the erasure rights set out in our Privacy Policy.
Strictly necessary cookies stay either way, including the one that remembers your choice.
Your first visit. Nothing that needs consent loads before you choose, with the single exception of the scheduling tool on the four booking pages named above. Analytics and marketing are denied by default, and Reject is offered as prominently as Accept.
Browser settings. You can also configure your browser to block or delete cookies through its privacy or settings menus. Blocking all cookies may affect Service functionality.
Google Analytics Opt-Out. The Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on can additionally be installed to prevent data collection across all sites.
Third-Party Services
Our Services may include links to third-party websites and services that are not operated by us. These third parties may use their own cookies when you interact with their services.
Kumo has no control over third-party cookies or privacy practices and encourages review of their policies.
Changes to This Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy may be updated to reflect practice changes, technology updates, or legal requirements. Changes are posted on this page with updated "Last Updated" date.
