What happened
- atmosfair, the German non-profit climate-protection organisation, financed a PyroNam industrial biochar plant at Nog Verder Farm in the Otjozondjupa region of Namibia through a pre-purchase of its carbon removal credits (project page: "Financed by: atmosfair x PyroNam"; Carbon Herald reported the project on 10 December 2024). The plant produces about 1,000 t of biochar a year, removing over 2,000 t CO2e a year, certified under the Carbon Standards International Global Biochar C-Sink standard. The amount, volume and terms of the pre-purchase are not published.
