What happened
- Development loan funding Skytree's first Skypark outside the Netherlands, a geothermally powered direct air capture plant in Iceland selling CO2 as a service to greenhouse horticulture, the food industry and e-fuel production. Closing wording: "Invest International has signed a EUR 1 million development loan". The loan funds the conversion of offtake letters of intent into binding contracts; machine installation and commercial operations are expected in 2028. Each Skypark is structured as its own company with an energy partner, investors and local CO2 buyers; the Icelandic energy partner is not named.
Kumo note
- A development loan rather than construction finance: it pays for the work of turning offtake letters of intent into binding contracts before any plant is built. The lender is a state backed institution, which is what makes a pre construction ticket of this size available to a direct air capture developer at all.
