What happened
- Cotierra (Zurich) raised EUR 2.6m (US$3m as stated by Biochar Today and the trade press) in a round co-led by PINC, the venture arm of Paulig, and Carbon Removal Partners, with Zurcher Kantonalbank, Carbon Drawdown Initiative, better ventures, GOTA Ventures, Hungry4Impact, Triple Impact Ventures and climate-focused angels. Closing wording (Paulig release, 29 Sep 2026): PINC "has co-led a EUR 2.6 million investment round in Cotierra"; Biochar Today quotes Cotierra as having "successfully secured EUR 2.6 million ($3 million) in new funding". Proceeds take the technology from field deployments to repeatable commercial scale, starting with coffee. Total funding to date is about US$4.75m, so about US$1.75m was raised earlier. The round label is not stated, the equity-versus-other split is not stated, and the unnamed angels take no credit.
Kumo note
- Decentralised biochar reactors for agricultural businesses, with monitoring and traceability software, financed by a corporate venture arm from the coffee sector (Paulig's PINC) alongside carbon removal specialists, a cantonal bank and a Swiss non-profit fund.
