What happened
- Sumitomo Corporation acquired an equity stake in Graphyte's Loblolly project via a newly established US joint venture, Sumitomo 49% / Graphyte 51%. Billed as one of the first project-level equity investments into a durable CDR facility rather than corporate-level venture equity - structurally the most interesting item in the quarter. Loblolly has issued 15,000+ CDR credits to date and expands to 50,000 credits/yr under the JV; the vehicle is also intended to fund additional projects beyond Loblolly. Announced alongside a separate CDR credit purchase agreement with NYK Group (Japanese shipping). Graphyte's largest shareholder is Breakthrough Energy Ventures. Graphyte advised by Clean Energy Counsel (Marlena Schultz).
