- Enhanced rock weathering (ERW) - CO2-removing silicon fertiliser
What happened
- Stanford spin-out commercialising a mineral conversion process that uses idle cement kilns to turn silicate rocks into a form that weathers rapidly - as fast as a single growing season. Sold as a plant-available silicon fertiliser, with CO2 removal via conversion to stable bicarbonate. Proceeds fund scaling to at least 1,000 tonnes of product and a move from small-plot to larger field trials. CEO/co-founder: Jade Marcus.
