What happened
- Trafigura, one of the world's largest energy traders, sold its Kinertic carbon trading platform (developed through its Agora (Europe) Limited subsidiary) to Context Labs, a US-based AI-powered carbon data company. Consideration took the form of an equity stake in the acquirer rather than cash, and Trafigura made a separate equity investment to support further platform development and integration. Framed as positioning for the next phase of EU carbon regulation.
