What happened

Sale out of insolvency following the bankruptcy of SeaO2, a Netherlands based direct ocean capture developer founded in 2021 which had raised over US$2m and cited slow capital movement. CarbonBlue is taking over the operating assets. No consideration disclosed. The announcement was made by SeaO2 co-founder Ruben Brands; Iddo Tsur is named for CarbonBlue and Jason Hochman for CTRL-S. No advisers named.

Kumo note

A direct ocean capture developer broken up in insolvency, with the plant and the patents going to two different buyers. Where the intellectual property of a failed removal developer ends up is one of the few observable signals of what the market thinks the technology is worth.
