What happened

Offtake agreement under which Rubicon Carbon purchases credits from Ecobase's pan-European afforestation project spanning 24 countries. Rubicon's release describes it as the first-ever purchase of afforestation credits from an EU-based project. Volume, term and value are not disclosed. Recorded, not ranked: no source states that capital moved before the credits did, and silence on payment timing means it does not rank. Every party is an offtaker, so the parties carry Credit = Buyer and Party class = Infrastructure and none is a capital provider.

Kumo note

The first offtake over afforestation credits from an EU project, which matters because European afforestation has until now had no buyer of scale and therefore no way to finance planting against future credits. Worth watching as a precedent for whether EU-sourced removals can command a contract at all.
